California is ranked 49th in the nation 50 states in terms of housing units per capita.
An estimated 180,000 additional units of housing per year need just to keep pace with the current rate of population growth, but according to the California Department of Housing and Community Development, production has fallen far short:
Less than 80,000 new housing units were developed (on average) annually over the past decade.
SB 330 isn't going to solve the problem of escalating homelessness. But a shocking lack of affordable housing is a contributing factor and addressing that issue is a positive step.
As your next State Assembly member, I pledge to work towards solving the growing homeless crisis and lack of affordable housing in our district.
I won't be in the pocket of the developers. I'll be at the front lines, working from the people - for the people.
